COST:  Early Bird Registration is $370 for the series, includes lunch.  After May 1st, the cost is $400.

Presented by Lesley Roth, Director of Academic Excellence at Northern Kentucky Montessori Academy,  this two-day professional development course is designed for the Montessori Instructional Assistant, the Montessori newcomer, or parent seeking to further embrace and understand the philosophy, or the Montessorian who seeks to review and renew their sense of purpose and passion. Appropriate for those working in either 3 to 6 or 6 to 9 classrooms.

Lesley Roth MEd,  is the Director of Academic Excellence at Northern Kentucky Montessori Academy and an adjunct faculty member of Xavier University Montessori Teacher Education Program in Cincinnati, OH. She holds an AMS-credential (Early Childhood), is Ohio state licensed prek-3, and is a certified Reading Specialist K-12 . Lesley has taught Montessori coursework for over 18 years and has served in the roles of  assistant teacher, Head Teacher, and Head of School. She and has presented at local, national, and international conferences including those in Beijing, China and Taiwan.

Providing 15 approved hours of professional development, course content will include:

  • Montessori Philosophy

  • The Teacher: Who is the teacher in a Montessori classroom?

  • The Planes of Children’s Development

  • The Prepared Environment

  • Curriculum Overview

  • Observation and Record Keeping

  • Freedom Within Limits: Managing the Montessori classroom

  • Supporting challenging behavior

  • The unique needs and exceptionalities of children

  • Children’s Rights and Responsibilities

  • Teaching as collaboration

  • The Montessori Continuum

The daily schedule will allow for two breaks (a.m. and p.m.) and a lunch.

NKMA is an easy day’s drive for anyone coming from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia or Tennessee.  If you plan to attend from out of town and would like assistance selecting local accommodations, please let us know.  Several affordable hotels are close by.

Participation will be limited to 20, to allow for small group interactivity.
